Collaborative worker (sewing) coops

This article from the Sustainable Economies Law Center has information about forming work c-ops. C-ops will be an important part of the Next Economy. Sewing co-ops may be a good solution for small to medium sized garment design manufacturing.

I’m familiar with a couple of these initiatives, and have informally studied the history of industrial co-operatives (i.e. Mondragon) a little bit.

Opportunity Threads in North Carolina is an inspiring recent example. Here are two articles about them and their website: http://community-wealth.org/content/how-worker-cooperative-factory-helping-bring-textile-manufacturing-back-north-carolina
