Hi,

I am starting to develop export to DXF-AAMA/ASTM. Is here somebody interested in these formats? I will need help in testing files.

Открывается, масштаб похож на правду. Не могу понять в виде чего отобразились собственно линии выкройки (за припусками) взаимодействовать с ними никак не получается. В любом случае для сшивания в CLO нужна выкройка без припусков.

А CLO точно поддерживает стандарт AAMA? Меня интересует именно он.

Точно Без припусков все работает нормально, контуры редактируются, сшиваются

This is how it looks for me when imported into Optitex.

Tell me what you want to check? I usually do not import AAMA, so I don’t know how it is supposed to behave.

For me it looks quite fine. Length seems to be quite ok (test 7cm gives 6.99cm). Cutting contour are defining the piece, stitching line are converted into internal lines. No curves points.

A detail on the front flyfacing shows that what I suppose to be straight line is straight. And all point are sharp point. ANd there is a small gap between external contour and internal contour.

I don’t think there is much left to test. But i wonder do we need export as AAMA in DXF formats after R12? Looks like this is not necessary.

Also i did not implement a mirror line, because Valentina doesn’t support it. Don’t know if need at all.

And the last, but not the least. To complete AAMA support next week plan to begin redesign labels. This feature also should be tested.

@Krolich - The 3D export feature can’t be DXF-AAMA or DXF-ASTM format. The export file must be developed by us, as there is too much unneeded information in the DXF files to be useful for importing into 3D applications, and doesn’t include the information we will be adding in future versions of Valentina.

If it helps we can start with the DXF definition and add our own modifications, but the resulting file will no longer qualify as DXF-AAMA or DXF-ASTM.

As stated in other threads about our 3D export file over the past 3 years, here are the requirements:

  • No seam allowances
  • Matched seam lines between pieces (These are the instructions for how to sew the pieces together!)
  • Matched passmarks (These are the instructions for inserting “ease” as gathers, tucks, etc.)
  • Internal paths are included (These are the instructions for placing buttons, pockets, electronic circuitry, embroidery, etc.)
  • Equal number of vertices down matched seam lines
  • All pieces laid out as SVG vector images
  • No overlapping pieces

The data included in Valentina patterns which are imported into 3D environments will be very different than any other pattern format file. This distinction will become even greater when we add new features to Valentina, and to allow designs changes in 3D environment which then are importable back into Valentina to create Bill of Materials, Marker Layouts, etc.

DXF-AAMA and DXF-ASTM are good for what they were designed to do, but we’re shooting beyond those limitations.

I see. He just said it opens, but CLO needs a pattern without seamlines. I gave it for him and all worked. No one said something about 3D.

Okay, but my point is different. We have been testing DXF-AAMA no matter where it used. So, you are right about 3D, but i tested AAMA output.

Yeah I don’t want this discussion about DXF exports to judged according to the requirements for importing into 3D - the 3D import should be a different thread.

Import of 2D pattern is a feature of CLO as opposed to Marvelous Designer. I don’t need anything special in terms of format like .obj for Blender. We just use it to check if Valentina exports DXF-AAMA correctly (Looks like it does :slight_smile:)
