Icons needed for Windows, Linux, and MAC builds

#1

If you work with icons, please look at the attached spreadsheet about icons sizes used in Windows, Gnome Linux, and MAC 10.7+

It seems that Windows still requires ‘flat’ styles for some icon types, and Gnome style icons are typically ‘soft 3D’.

Does anyone have additional information?

You mentioned that we need icons, which icons are you referring to? (The spreadsheet contains info regarding all types of icons)

Great, so no changes required.

The spreadsheet will be the guide to create a script to convert the .svg’s to the icons required to build the distribution for each OS.On Sat, Jan 9, 2016 at 12:04 PM, Benjamin Nauck benjamin@nauck.se wrote:

It all depends on who the intended readers are. If it’s just for Mo and Valentina so they can generate what we need for the application and document icons, then I think we could remove the mentioning of .pdf and .icns

If you want to create a generic spreadsheet that could be used for all types of icons then I think it might be better to separate the groups (app icons, toolbar icons, sidebar icons etc) to sheets of their own. (There’s a bit much going on in that spreadsheet at the moment so it is a bit difficult to read)

We do need to generate a .icns file for some icons, but that could be added as an automatic build step. As long as we have all the sizes it shouldn’t be a problem.

I don’t think anything else is missing

This information was pulled from online style guidelines which stated, as you point out, that greyscale is required for Toolbar and Sidebar, and that .icns is required for application and documents.

Should we change the spreadsheet? Should we generate .pdf & .icns icons? Is something else required that isn’t listed? On Sat, Jan 9, 2016 at 9:34 AM, Benjamin Nauck benjamin.nauck@gmail.com wrote:

The spreadsheet is a checklist for converting Mo’s and Valentina’s designs into the various raster images (and .pdf vector files) needed for each OS distribution.
